Terms of Service

Last updated: July 21, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Teo ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Teo is a fitness application for Apple Watch and iPhone that provides training readiness scoring, workout tracking, heart rate zone analysis, guided workouts, training plans, and related fitness metrics. The App reads data from Apple HealthKit and processes your health data entirely on your device.

Optionally, you may create a Teo account (via Sign in with Apple) and connect third-party services such as Strava. These optional features involve limited server-side data as described in our Privacy Policy. The App also collects limited anonymous usage analytics, which you can turn off in Settings.

3. Not Medical Advice

Teo is a fitness and training tool, not a medical device. The readiness scores, heart rate zone data, cardiac load calculations, and all other metrics provided by Teo are for informational and training purposes only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any exercise program or making decisions based on health data. If you experience chest pain, dizziness, or other symptoms during exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention.

4. Accuracy Disclaimer

Teo's readiness scores, fitness metrics, cardiac load calculations, and workout suggestions are based on published sports-science models and the sensor data provided by your Apple Watch. While we strive for accuracy, these calculations depend on the quality of sensor data and the applicability of general models to your individual physiology. Results may vary and should not be relied upon as precise measurements.

5. Open Source

Teo's source code is available under the MIT License at github.com/santekotturi/teo. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the code in accordance with the MIT License. The MIT License applies to the source code only and does not grant rights to the Teo name, logo, or trademarks.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Not use the App as a substitute for professional medical advice
  • Ensure your Apple Watch sensors are functioning properly for accurate readings
  • Take responsibility for your own health and safety during exercise
  • Only connect third-party accounts (such as Strava) that belong to you

7. Privacy

Your use of Teo is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In short: your health data stays on your device; optional features (anonymous usage analytics, a Teo account, and the Strava connection) involve limited, narrowly-scoped server-side data described there. We never sell your data or show ads.

8. Teo Account & Strava Integration

A Teo account (created with Sign in with Apple) is optional and currently exists solely to manage access to the Strava integration. You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account), which removes all server-side account data and disconnects Strava.

The Strava integration uploads activities you record with Teo to your Strava account. Your use of Strava is governed by Strava's own terms and privacy policy. Strava limits the number of athletes that may be connected to Teo through its API; because of this, we may disconnect integrations that have been inactive for an extended period to make room for active users. Your Teo account, your data on your devices, and activities already uploaded to Strava are not affected by such a disconnection, and you can reconnect when a slot is available.

We may suspend or discontinue the Strava integration if required by Strava's API terms or if our API access changes. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc. Teo is not affiliated with or endorsed by Strava.

9. Teo+ (Future Paid Service)

Teo+ is a planned subscription service that will provide AI-powered coaching features requiring server-side processing. When Teo+ launches, it will be governed by additional terms specific to that service. The free version of Teo will remain free and fully functional without Teo+, and Strava upload will never be gated behind a paid tier.

10. Donations

Teo may offer optional donations via GitHub Sponsors or in-app purchases. Donations are voluntary, non-refundable, and do not entitle donors to additional features, priority support, or any other consideration beyond supporting the project.

11. Intellectual Property

The Teo name, logo, and branding are the property of Sante Kotturi. The source code is licensed under MIT. Third-party trademarks (Apple, Apple Watch, HealthKit, Strava, Garmin, WHOOP) belong to their respective owners and are used for descriptive purposes only.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sante Kotturi and any contributors to the Teo project shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a new date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
